An old African proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I agree. It also takes each individual person to step up as part of that village to do what they can to protect, encourage, love and support each child. Too many people do not wish to get involved. They turn a blind eye. They have the attitude that it is not their child or their business. They believe if there is no blood relation, it is someone else’s problem. The Bible states that we are all God’s children. “Suffer the little children to come unto me” does not specify which children, or only the children that has a blood connection. We are all connected through the blood of Jesus. Sometimes God is looking to you to reach out to that other person. When you turn your head, cast a blind eye, or mind your own business, you are denying hope to a child of God. Be that village, a leader of that village. Reach out to your fellow sister, brother, and child. Love and care about someone else, while you have the opportunity. It takes a village to raise a child; it takes YOU.
